Other Loss & Grief Resources

  • American Widow Project (http://americanwidowproject.org/) serves our nation’s military widows and was founded by Taryn Davis over 10 years ago when she lost her husband to roadside bombs in the Middle East. Their mission: “Providing vital support to military widows with programs that unify, educate, empower and assist in rebuilding their lives in the face of tragedy”.
  • Hot Young Widows Club or HYWC (https://www.hotyoungwidowsclub.com/) is a program of the 501(c)(3) non-profit Still Kickin (https://stillkickin.co/). The founders have certainly seen their share of tragedy. One is Nora McInerny and we highly recommend her YouTube, TED Talk and other videos. Don’t let the Club’s name fool you—HYWC uses a highly inclusive definition of the word “widow” to mean anyone who has lost their romantic love partner to death. They welcome husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, partners, etc. As they write, “It’s a club nobody wants to join, whose cost of entry is way too high and unfortunately non-negotiable.”
